About Maimonides Fund
Maimonides Fund (MF) is a private grantmaking organization that funds in North America
and Israel. We aim to connect Jews to their people and their heritage, and to contribute to
the vitality of the State of Israel. MF seeks a strategic, analytically rigorous consultant with
demonstrated fluency in emerging technologies (particularly AI) to advise and support the
development of philanthropic strategies at the intersection of technology and Jewish
education, Israel education and advocacy, thought leadership, and Jewish representation in
media (film, television, journalism, digital platforms).
Position Summary
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, comfortable navigating both technical and Jewish/Israel content, and able to translate complex ideas into actionable recommendations. This engagement blends strategic advising, ecosystem-building, and content expertise rather than day-to-day grants administration.
Potential Scope of Work & Key Deliverables (to be finalized based on candidate)
- Strategic Landscape Analysis & Opportunity Identification
o Monitor developments in AI, machine learning, and emerging digital
technologies relevant to MF’s philanthropic interests.
o Produce periodic memos identifying strategic opportunities, risks, and high-leverage
interventions.
o Surface innovative models, programs, and organizations that could benefit from
philanthropic support. - Grantmaking & Portfolio Direction
o Provide expert input on proposals and opportunities in areas such as:
* AI-enabled tools for Jewish and Israel education
* Digital learning platforms
* Media integrity and fact-checking
* Jewish cultural and media production
o Recommend strategic priorities and multi-year arcs for investing in emerging
technologies. - Program Design & Ecosystem Building
o Advise on initiatives such as fellowships, creator support, and cross-sector
convenings.
o Suggest partnerships and convening strategies to strengthen institutional
capacity in relevant areas. - Internal AI Adoption Guidance
o Recommend tools and practices to enhance internal workflows, research
synthesis, and knowledge management.
o Advise on responsible, secure, and mission-aligned use of AI.
o Prepare briefings or workshops for staff as needed. - Research & Communications Support
o Contribute to strategy documents, board materials, and evaluation frameworks.
o Provide thought leadership insights for public or internal forums when
appropriate.
Engagement Structure
o Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week (flexible scheduling, mix of
remote and in-person in NYC), depending on agreed-upon scope.
o Duration: Initial 9-month engagement, with potential for renewal.
o Deliverables: Strategic memos, advisory input on grants, internal AI adoption
recommendations, and participation in key gatherings and events.
Qualifications
o Demonstrated fluency in emerging technologies, especially AI.
o Familiarity with and passion for one or more MF content pillars: Jewish education,
Israel education, media/journalism, or related cultural sectors.
o Experience in strategic advising, program design, or grantmaking in
nonprofit/philanthropic contexts.
o Exceptional writing and communication skills.
o Strong relationship-building ability across diverse professional environments.
o Sound professional judgment, objectivity, tact, and humility.
